Whether your student-athlete is brand new to a sport or eventually headed off to play in college, our Athletics program is consistently excellent. Fall team sports include boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis, girls’ volleyball, and coed cross country. Winter team sports are boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball. Spring team sports include baseball, coed golf, girls’ soccer, softball, coed swimming, boys’ tennis, coed track, and boys volleyball. This past week was one of triumph for College Prep in the athletic arena.
Boys’ volleyball soundly defeated rival Head Royce in the league championship game, three games to none, to claim the Bay Counties League East title and finish the regular season with a 23-5 record. The win earned them the second seed in the eight-team North Coast Section Division III Volleyball Championship. The team plays Chinese Christian in first round action on Tuesday, May 12 in College Prep’s Baldwin Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
Softball is rolling along, defeating Fremont Christian and Head Royce last week, upping its record to 13-3, including 12-1 in league as they steamroll toward North Coast Section qualifying.
Baseball had its most impressive victory of the year last week against a Redwood Christian team that had defeated the Cougars earlier in the season. The win moves College Prep to 14-6 as they too look for a high seed in the upcoming North Coast Section playoffs. This week features home games against Head Royce, St. Elizabeth, and Bentley. Come enjoy some baseball in the sunshine! All games start at 4:00 p.m.
Girls’ swimming captured the Bay Area Conference championship for the sixth consecutive year on Saturday at the Miramonte pool. The victory moved the girls’ swim team to a modest 59-1 over the past five seasons. This powerhouse team will send eight individual swimmers to the North Coast Section championships next week.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot that boys tennis defeated Head Royce to capture yet another Bay Counties League – East championship. The 18-2 cougars earned the fourth seed in the North Coast Section tournament and will face five seed University High on Tuesday, May 12 at 3:30 pm at the Chabot Raquet Club right around the corner from school.
